The Guitar has always been a mystical instrument. Throughout time musicians have devoted most of their lives in pursuit of guitar excellence. Although the instrument has been around for centuries it has only been in the last 60 years of so with the invention of the electric guitar that the full potential of the Guitar began to be realized.
A brief history.... The Blues plays a major part in the evolution of the electric guitar with such great players as Robert Johnson, B.B.King, Albert King, Freddie King and Buddy Guy. There were also great guitarists like Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, Les Paul and Wes Montgomery also popular greats like Chet Atkins and Duane Eddy. Then there was Rock 'n' Roll with such great players as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley.
All this led to the Sixties Guitar Rock Music Explosion heralding the arrival of such greats as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Pete Townshend, Frank Zappa, Carlos Santana etc and many others too numerous to mention. Guitar Heroes were everywhere.
During the Seventies a new breed of Guitarist and Bassist arrived on the scene fusing dazzling technique with electronic mastery. Many of these great musicians did not get the praise there great talents deserved, hence the birth of the Guitar Heaven Organization. The aim being to expose to a wider audience great unheard or little heard guitar music by great musicians regardless of their particular styles, dating from the past to the present time. All the Guitarist mentioned are considered by the author to be Guitar Legends. The Author apologizes to any guitarist or bassist not mentioned. This list is purely personal of a hardcore nature and is constantly updated. Seek and you shall find. OPEN YOUR MIND AND YOU WILL BECOME A BETTER PLAYER. OK LETS GET STARTED...................
